12 Bigwin Island 307

Set on the historic shores of Bigwin Island on Lake of Bays, this top-floor studio offers a rare opportunity to be part of one of Muskoka's most iconic island communities. Originally established in the early 1900s as a celebrated summer retreat, the island still carries that sense of history and escape, now offering a relaxed, maintenance free lifestyle surrounded by water, forest, and tradition. In the open water season, residents travel by scheduled ferry across Lake of Bays, leaving the mainland behind and easing into island time. When winter arrives and the lake freezes, access shifts with the season, adding to the island's quiet, tucked-away feel. The studio is positioned on the uppermost floor, offering added privacy with no overhead or opposite hallway neighbours and a peaceful forest outlook. The space is simple, low-maintenance, and designed as a comfortable base to enjoy the island lifestyle rather than time spent inside. Life here is centred around shared waterfront and community spaces. Long docks along the shoreline offer places to swim, relax, or head out onto the lake, while indoor amenities include a games room with pool table and darts, along with a sauna for unwinding after a day outdoors. Cornhole, BBQ areas, and casual gathering spaces add to the easygoing, social atmosphere. Recreation is woven into daily life with tennis and pickleball courts, walking paths, and open green spaces throughout the grounds. From sunrise on the dock to evenings spent with neighbours, this is a setting defined by simplicity, connection, and time on the water. A rare chance to own a piece of Muskoka history, offering a unique island lifestyle where community, recreation, and lake life come together in a truly memorable way.
