REF: 987511 Welcome to number 4, Upper Fisher Row, Oxford, close to the train station, town centre and so close to vibrant Jericho, it's almost part of it! It's also an Oxford Blue Plaque Home! And we're not talking about your run of the mill celebrity Beckham or Byonce.... oh no! This is Oxford's own Mr Abel Beesley, he of England Punting championship fame all the way back in the late 1800s. He spent his final years here, so the plaque informs us, from 1899 to 1921, presumably commuting to his punting place of work. We even have a photo of the esteemed Mr Beesley in his punt!

I'm sure he would appreciate the upgrades to his home with its wooden laminate floors, modern kitchen, two bathrooms, gas central heating.... those cold Winter mornings when the window panes froze on the inside, crikey even this writer remembers those days, would be a very distant memory indeed!

However, back to now. This really is a great little house with tons of character. A terraced town cottage but with four bedrooms, it really isn't so little. What's also lovely, in my opinion at least, is the almost rural outlook from the front of the house to the trees bordering Castle Mill Stream. Worth a mention also is the back garden which, whilst not huge, has good potential - with a good size patio for entertaining and a lovely South West facing garden - currently in need of a "pruning" session admittedly - leading down to the other stream at the back of the house. That last is worth mentioning because as well as the aesthetic of having a waterway at the end of your garden, it also makes for an extremely effective security border!

The other massive plus of this property is the location. You are literally a short walk from the train station (London Paddington, 52mins & London Marylebone, 1hr 15mins), the bus station (buses going directly to London Victoria) and the town centre for which read Oxford's colleges, the shops, museums, theatres, historic pubs and restaurants. The direct access to the canal towpath provides an extremely pleasant waterside stroll to Jericho and vibrant Walton Street with its boutique shops, artisan cafes, delis and restaurants. A little further along the towpath and you're at Port Meadow Nature Reserve, 137 hectares of beautiful meadowland bordered by the River Thames. There are also a couple of rather nice pubs along the way!

All in all, a great purchase in this writer's opinion. Both as a home or rental investment (subject to obtaining the usual local licences etc). Oh, and one last thing... whilst modern day Mr Beesley might still enjoy a little recreational punting he would probably make good use of the permit parking right outside the house.
